With a degree in sports  management, you can explore many different types of jobs. Which one is right for you?   • Athletics Director (High Ed): $99,627
  • Campus Recreation Director: $62,031

These aren’t, of course, the only positions available in the sports management field. In general, you can expect to earn $30,000 to $40,000 are a starting salary and more as you begin to advance in your career through experience.

Other Factors that Affect Your Salary

Experience isn’t the only factor that affects what you can expect to earn in the sports management field. As you may have guessed, you’ll earn more if you have more education in this field. Other factors that affect your salary include:

  • Location: You’ll earn more money in areas where works in sports management are in higher demand. Keep in mind that these might also be areas where cost of living is higher, so do your research.
  • Employer: It should come as no surprise that you’ll make more money if you work for a more popular team. These teams naturally have more money and can afford to spend more for sports management, but the stakes will be higher as well, since you’ll need to help the team stay on top.
  • Sports Level: You’ll own the most, on average, working in professional sports, though keep in mind that the most jobs are available at the collegiate level.
  • Certifications: If you are certified in your field, you’ll be able to make more money. Consider a sports counseling, training, nutritionist, or other certification to become a more valuable employee.
  • Special Skills: When getting your sports management degree, you can also minor or double-major in a related field, like accounting or marketing. These additional skills and education can help you earn more money.
